The Monaco royals don't generally do small celebrations. (See:Prince Albert's recent cocktail party for 8,000 marking 10 years on the throne.) But the July 25 wedding of Albert's nephew Pierre Casiraghi and Italian heiress Beatrice Borromeo will be surprisingly laid-back, the prince tells PEOPLE.

"The wedding service will be in the Palace's salons, then a garden party – because Pierre and Beatrice want it that way," Prince Albert, 57, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Fashion is getting totally ripped this summer -- and shredded, frayed, hole-punched and generally destroyed. Battered-looking clothing -- with denim taking the biggest hit -- is e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e.

At Roslyn boutique Transitions, owner Leslie Cohen, 45, can hardly keep the distressed stuff in stock. She not only sells shabby chic, she wears it herself. "In my world, I'm pairing ripped jeans with a crisp white button-down, navy blazer, Hermes belt and pumps," says Cohen. "It's a very classy look that's not only for day or for the very young." Cohen says the power of the ripped and frayed is twofold: it looks edgy and is comfortable. "I've sold it for many years, but this season, it's become a staple. And there's much less resistance to it. It's not like you turn 50 and have to stop wearing ripped jeans. It's more of an attitude."

Vanity Fair recently took a tour of Paris Fashion Week with Russell Westbrook to capture what the Oklahoma City Thunder star had to say about this season’s latest collections. Turns out the pro baller had quite a bit to say about the designs that made it down the runway, and he shared his critiques in a photo diary for the magazine.

“The camp and argyle prints mixed together were a standout combo,” Westbrook wrote after attending the Dior Homme show. “The collection was very refreshing. I also liked the zipper details on the suits. I love the progressive approach Kris took when designing various interpretations of the classic bomber jacket, using floral patterns on the sleeves and numerous fabrics.”

The designer Betsey Johnson is an unmistakable presence, even on these patchwork streets crowded with exhibitionists, goofballs, ding-dongs and eccentrics all competing for a second glance. Traffic doesn’t screech to a halt when she passes by, but at least one police officer stops to give her an admiring hug.

Johnson is not just style. She is a walking expression of youthful joy, inspirational stamina and several lifetimes’ worth of accomplishments.
