Vanity Fair recently took a tour of Paris Fashion Week with Russell Westbrook to capture what the Oklahoma City Thunder star had to say about this season’s latest collections. Turns out the pro baller had quite a bit to say about the designs that made it down the runway, and he shared his critiques in a photo diary for the magazine.
“The camp and argyle prints mixed together were a standout combo,” Westbrook wrote after attending the Dior Homme show. “The collection was very refreshing. I also liked the zipper details on the suits. I love the progressive approach Kris took when designing various interpretations of the classic bomber jacket, using floral patterns on the sleeves and numerous fabrics.”
Westbrook also attended Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain Homme show, the first menswear runway show for the brand.
“I love the neutral tones and the desert-and-military-inspired theme of the show, and how Olivier experimented with suede and coordinated with different fabrics,” Westbrook said before sharing some of his favorite looks from the collection. “I was honored to be there at the first Balmain Homme show. I know this was a big moment for Olivier and I relate to his approach to style, he is a young, fearless guy that takes fashion risks like myself.”
Among his time around fashion’s stars like Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy, Kim Jones of Louis Vuitton and Barneys New York CEO Mark Lee, Westbrook also took some time to tout his own stylish offerings — a new Jordan sneaker and a debut eyewear line — at the Parisian boutique Colette.
“I was excited to be able to participate in Paris Fashion Week and bring my own fashion designs to Paris first,” Westbrook wrote. “Seeing my eyewear and shoes in Colette and watching the people lined up around the block to see me was really a surreal experience. The store is so amazing and seeing how much people from Paris have embraced me reminds me how blessed I am.”
