The striking design is one of up-and-coming designer Lee Bao En, 22, who was crowned winner of the first ever AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search earlier today.
Lee, from UCSI, was inspired by the rich history of Cambodia, and wowed both judges and the audience during the finale fashion show which was held on the last day of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready to Wear 2015.

I was still rubbing my shoulder, post-cortisone shot, when I asked the doctor, “So. Is it possible this whole fiasco could have been caused by a weight machine?”
The doc swiveled his chair away from the MRI image. He looked straight at me with a deadpan face. At least it seemed deadpan in my ’roid fog. He nodded. No words, just a subtle nonverbal “yep” heard ’round my world.

This month, Pittsburgh enters what’s arguably its busiest time of the year in fashion with a one-two punch of packed events thanks to the third annual Style Week Pittsburgh (Wednesday through next Sunday) and the sixth annual Pittsburgh Fashion Week (Sept. 21-27). It says a lot for a city of Pittsburgh’s size to have nearly two weeks of events (not counting the numerous other separate style-focused affairs held here year-round) that are devoted to putting Pittsburgh’s fashion community on a pedestal for all to see.
As someone whose job is to stay on the pulse of Pittsburgh’s style scene, I’m often asked: Can the city sustain this many fashion events? Without a doubt, yes. Within the past five years, Pittsburgh has seen significant growth on the fashion front. It’s home to emerging and established designers, boutiques that carry world class brands, college-level fashion degree programs, a provisional chapter of the prestigious Fashion Group International, and salons with stylists whose talents have landed them on styling teams backstage at New York Fashion Week. The city even has claim to the International Mustache Hall of Fame.

It finally happened. No, the gaping maw of hell did not open up and swallow all these women, welcoming them back to the fiery climes from which they came. It was something close. Aspiring white woman of leisure Sonja Tremont Morgan of the Maxxinista Morgans finally debuted her local global fashion casual luxury womenswear lifestyle ready-to-wear brand collection assortment sampler. She did this during New York Fashion Week.
Now, notice that I did not say she did this at New York Fashion Week. As Kristen pointed out, Sonja Morgan was not in the tents at Lincoln Center where the most commercial brands engage in the official event known as New York Fashion Week. All of the other shows that happen at the same time happen during New York Fashion Week, as in concurrent to the shows that are a part of the official event. This does not mean that Sonja’s event is any less special. Marc Jacobs doesn’t show in the tents, and neither does Alexander Wang or Joseph Altuzarra or Thom Browne. Actually, it’s kind of not cool to be in Lincoln Center. It’s full of brands that they carry at, you know, Macy’s. Anna Wintour only goes to the tents to support her advertisers. Kanye West wouldn’t be caught dead in a tent, but that’s because of a bad experience he had at Boy Scouts and has nothing to do with Fashion Week.

Even if you don't follow the world of high fashion, Dana Thomas' dual biography of British designers John Galliano and Alexander McQueen is one of the nonfiction titles of the year. Thomas probes the torrential world of haute couture as she chronicles the lives of fashion superstars whose meteoric careers read like a modern Faustian tale of tragic dimension.
Thomas opens the book with the infamous spectacle of John Galliano's 2011 downfall, that was caught on tape and made international headlines. The drunk and viscous Galliano was seen hurling anti-Semitic and misogynist epithets against Geraldine Bloch, (curator at the Paris' Institute of the Arab World) who was dining at a nearby table with her boyfriend on the terrace of the Paris cafe La Perle. Under French law, Galliano was arrested and charged with a hate crime and the tape went viral on the internet.

The dog days of summer have arrived. Yesterday, I found myself sweating bullets on my walk to the train, and it wasn't even that sunny. My hair drooped the minute I stepped outside, my clothes stuck to my back and I probably would have paid a volunteer $10 to carry my gym bag.
It's not just the heat; it's also the humidity. You sweat even more on an 80-degree day with lots of humidity than on a 90-degree day with no humidity. Every year I discover a new fashion problem that goes along with said sweat. This year, I have been carrying a cross-body bag and noticed that when I sweat, the leather on the strap gets damp and rubs off on my shirt. Yet another delightful side-effect of the sweltering heat.

French fashion house Dior will be the official sponsor of the Guggenheim International Gala in New York for the third consecutive year. The 2015 New York City event is scheduled for held Nov. 4 and 5, according to WWD.
The "GIG" is a two-night party to support the museum's operations — including exhibitions, educational programs and the landmark building. This year's first night is going to be a pre-party hosted by the Young Collectors Council. The event will feature performances by Grimes, also known as Claire Boucher. The second night will honor artists Doris Salcedo and Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian and late artist On Kawara, who have all been featured at the museum.

Tartan miniskirts and tie side crop tops, babydoll dresses and ugly platform sandals, pastel coloured everything and black velvet chokers: the list of signifiers confirming one’s awareness of ‘Clueless’ (and the corresponding decade’s fashion choices) is as long as it is prevalent in east London circa 2015, yet there remains just one piece of arm candy more prominent than shag bands.
Enter Baby-G.

As you can imagine, in such a climate, any new or young designer would find it tough to start up, let alone compete with the more established names.
And yet, a few brave souls did. Lya Solis was one.
