And, clearly, classical singer Katherine Jenkins is getting used to being around younger faces as she performed to a sea of children at a charity gala in London's Savoy Hotel on Tuesday.

The blonde beauty cut a maternal figure during the I CAN 'Million Lost Voices Appeal' concert.

Wearing a royal blue, floor-length dress, the Welsh star was typically glamorous as she sang a medley off hits at the fundraiser.

Wearing her hair in a set side-parting, the 34 year-old turned heads in the gown which featured a jewel-encrusted neckline.

In fact, even her microphone was embellished in diamond-effect crystals.

Following her performance, Katherine spent time with children from the charity - which aims to develop language and speaking skills in youngsters.

Clearly embracing her maternal streak, Katherine posed for pictures with the kids and spent time chatting with them to encourage communication.

At one point she squeezed one of them tightly in a loving embrace.

Only recently she told journalists how keen she is to become a mother.

Going into more detail, Katherine told Fabulous Magazine that she will make sure her offspring come first to her career.

The beauty explained that following the birth of her nephew five months ago she is more broody than ever, she said of her sister Laura: 'She's got this natural maternal instinct and I want to experience that myself.

'I really want children. The next question is "How will I make the family dream happen?" I'm looking forward to that and I think it will be a challenge. I want to be able to put my children first.'.

She continued: 'I think that's really hard to do when you're on the road.'

Katherine announced her engagement to Andrew, a professor at the prestigious New York University and a distinguished artist, in April after just six months of dating.

The couple met when they were both working in New York and began dating in October, shortly after she split from Prince Harry's close friend Adam Bidwell.

The operatic star was previously engaged to former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones, who proposed in 2011 - but the couple split later that year.
