Racegoers to the Cowra Picnic Races on Saturday, November 8 should wear their best attire if they want to be considered for one of the four categories in the annual Fashions on the Field.

The categories for the coveted event include Miss Cowra Picnic Races, Best Dressed Gent, Most Outstanding Hat and Most Elegant Lady.

Thanks to the generosity of the competition's sponsors, there are some very impressive prizes for the winners and runners up.

Each winner will receive a cash prize courtesy of major sponsors, Elders Cowra and Elders Insurance, who are proud to be associated with such a long running element of the races.

^Bruce Rowston, Kelly Skinner, James Fagan, Carla Sparkes and Adam Meiklejohn are proud to be on board with the 2014 Elders Fashions on the Field competition.

The winners will also take home a whole swag of prizes, including gift vouchers for local businesses.

Miss Cowra Picnic Races will be rewarded for her style with a $150 gift voucher for Wish clothing at Style for Women, as well as some beautiful jewellery.

The Best Dressed Gent award recipient will always look sharp with a $160 voucher from Bushmans Boots and All and a $250 voucher from Studio Menswear.

The Most Outstanding Hat award winner will take home $200 to spend at The Closet, while the Elegant Lady will be given a $175 treatment voucher from the Skin and Beauty Emporium.

All runners up will receive beautiful gifts from Re'lish, and all ladies will take home a beautiful Bouquet from Blondies Bunches.

Local businesses Style for Women, Studio Menswear, The Closet, the Skin and Beauty Emporium, Bushmans Boots and All, Mulyan, Re'lish and Blondie's Bunches have also donated prizes, ensuring another successful year of Fashions on the Field.

The Committee was delighted that this year brought with it two new sponsors to the competition being Re'lish and Blondie's Bunches; it was encouraging to have new businesses join with some of the longer standing supporters.

Fashions on the Field coordinator, Annabel Gay, says the committee is grateful for the support of all the sponsors.

"Without the generosity of these donations, the Elders Fashion on the Field wouldn't be possible. We're really thankful for the support of these local businesses, their contributions cannot be underestimated."

Contenders, as selected throughout the day by committee members, will be judged according to set criteria by central west milliner, Fiona Schofield and owner of online fashion business Olive & Clover, Prue Hufton.

Criteria includes style and originality, appropriateness for the occasion and grooming and presentation.
