Mrs. Jeremiah Noel Dawsey

Leah Blair Abshire and Jeremiah Noel Dawsey were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on July 12, 2014 held at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette at 1:30 pm in the afternoon. The Mass was celebrated by Reverend Leo Nicoll, S.J. Con Celebrants were Reverend Chester Arceneaux and Deacon George Jourdan.

The bride is the daughter of Gerald "Tee" and Gail Abshire. She is the granddaughter of Hazel Savoy Comeaux, the late Walter F. Comeaux, the late Mr. & Mrs. Henry Girouard and the late Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Abshire, Sr. Leah is a 2002 Lafayette High School, a 2006 University of Louisiana at Lafayette Graduate with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. She is currently working on her second Masters in Library Science from Louisiana State University.

The groom is the son of Steven and Michelle Halphen and the late Marvin Dawsey. He is the step-grandson of Charles and Audrey Halphen. Jeremiah is a 2005 Port Barre High School Graduate. He is currently working in construction.

Escorted by her father the bride wore an exquisite wedding gown found at A-Net's Bridal Boutique. The bodice featured beaded lace halter with sweetheart necklace and a zipper enclosure. A pleated satin sash with a Swarovski crystal appliqué accented the natural waistline. The dress also introduced a full a-line silhouette, with a scalloped lace adorned skirt hem flowing into a semi-cathedral train. The bride's ensemble was made with a lightly beaded fingertip veil accompanied by a floral metalwork headpiece enhanced with crystal embellishment.

Bridesmaids were Anna Abshire Delcambre, Marie Gilbert, Giselle McAllister, Bethany Miller and Jessica Dawsey. Groomsmen were Josh Dawsey, Brett Ansley, Jared Reed, Craig Reed and Corey White. Ushers were Billy Runyan and Brennan Plaisance. The ringbearer was Noah Wascom. Scriptures were read by Megan Wimberly and Sandra Halphen.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Oakbourne Country Club where Nik-L-Beer entertained guests. The couple will reside in California.
